The Media Law Forum hosted a legal awareness workshop for mobile journalists lacking access to traditional newsrooms on July 30th. Held at the SLPI Auditorium, the event provided a comprehensive overview of the legal landscape impacting journalism. Key topics included laws relevant to journalism, regulations aimed at censorship, and a focused discussion on the Online Safety Act, Data Protection Act, and Source Protection Laws. The session also addressed concerns raised by journalists and offered practical solutions.
The workshop was led by Attorney-at-Law Prabodha Rathnayake, Operations Director of the Media Law Forum, with significant contributions from Coordination Officer Mr. Nayana Tharanga Gamage.
