Media Law Forum’s Third Workshop Explores Online Safety Act

Gathering at the Araliya Beach Resort & Spa – Unawatuna from June 29th to June 30th, 2024, the Media Law Forum hosted its third two-day residential workshop, serving as a pivotal platform for media actors and lawyers to delve into the intricacies of the Online Safety Act.

The first day featured two specialized sessions tailored to the specific needs of media actors and lawyers. Participants engaged in deep discussions and interactive sessions, aimed at comprehending the nuances of the Online Safety Act within their respective domains.

On the second day, the focus shifted to fostering collaboration and networking between media actors and lawyers. The goal was to identify opportunities for joint efforts in effectively implementing the Online Safety Act.

Distinguished figures from the legal and media sectors graced the event, offering invaluable insights and expertise. Key contributors included Dr. Thusitha Abeysekara, Attorney-at-Law Thishya Weragoda, Attorney-at-Law Viranjana Herath, veteran journalists Kulasri Kariyawasam and Namal Perera, Attorney-at-Law Niroshika Liyana Muhandiram, and Attorney-at-Law Jayantha Dehiattage.
