Media Law Forum Hosts Workshop on Online Safety Act in Negombo

The Media Law Forum held its second two-day residential workshop at the Goldi Sands Hotel in Negombo from May 15th to June 16th, 2024. This workshop served as a crucial platform for media actors and lawyers to delve into the complexities of the Online Safety Act.

The first day of the workshop featured two specialized sessions tailored to meet the distinct needs of media actors and lawyers. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions and interactive sessions, focusing on understanding the nuances of the Online Safety Act within their respective fields.

The second day emphasized collaboration and networking between media actors and Lawyers, aiming to identify opportunities for cooperative efforts in the effective implementation of the Online Safety Act.

Prominent figures from the legal and media sectors graced the event, providing invaluable insights and expertise. Notable contributors included Dr. Ranga Kalansooriya, Prof. Madhubhashini Hewage, Dr. Thusitha Abeysekara, Attorney-at-Law Thishya Weragoda, Attorney-at-Law Jagath Liyana Arachchi, Attorney-at-Law Lakshan Dias, Attorney-at-Law Viranjana Herath, veteran journalist Kulasri Kariyawasam, veteran journalist Mandana Ismail, Attorney-at-Law Ainkaran Kugadasan, Attorney-at-Law Niroshika Liyana Muhandiram, and Attorney-at-Law Jayantha Dehiattage.
