An enlightening panel discussion on “University Students and Information Literacy” was held at the University of Colombo on October 28, 2024. The event featured key speakers, including Viranjana Herath, Chairperson of Media Law Forum; Dr. Pavithra Jayawardena, Senior Lecturer in the Department of International Relations at the University of Colombo; and Dr. Mangala Keerthi De Pasqual, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication at the University of Kelaniya. The discussion, attended by university students from various fields, focused on the growing impact of information technology on students’ lives, exploring essential skills for navigating information effectively and responsibly in an increasingly digital world. The event provided undergraduates with valuable insights into the importance of information literacy in academic and personal development, emphasizing the role of digital literacy in enhancing learning outcomes and critical thinking skills.
